Title: snap hook swirvel in black
Post by: mogensbeck on January 29, 2017, 11:58:35 AM
I am looking for a snap hook swirvel like this but in black. And I have had no luck finding something similar other then steel.

If all else fails, maybe DIY Black Oxide?:

We used to use those when I was a diver.  We called them spinnaker shackles, and we used brass ones. They were a pain to find good ones.

I don't have a good source, but I would recommend staying away from the ones milspecmonkey.com sells.

Yes, the Milspec Monkey ones are not the greatest. I ordered a few and promptly returned them. I needed them to close with one hand which was not possible with the ones I had. They also had pretty loose tolerances. I've found quality snap shackles are quite expensive. Not a swivel one but: http://www.paragear.com/skydiving/10000175/H6100/

I know the non-swivel are very well priced, but they don't come in black. You're best bet is to annodize them for a nice color finish. Otherwise they come out looking half-assed like the MSM shackles.
