Concept, design, and engineering / Re: Paper or digital sketching?
« on: January 04, 2021, 09:15:57 AM »
Please post an intro

Hi!

Long-time reader, first-time poster.

I'm just getting into this, its a passion project, and I wanted to learn as much as I could in the process, so my original sketches were done on a basic sketch book, and I went out and got myself 30' of old-school rolled pattern paper for full drawings. About 10% done, I realized that anything I come up with that requires more than basic industrial sewing will likely require moving into digital- the conversion fees for paper to digital are absurdly high- so anything I need laser-cut will have to be redone digitally. One more cool thing to learn.

I don't see it as a massive issue for me personally (as I said, passion project and learning experience), but if you're producing or selling off of a concept (that topic I know a bit about), turn-over could be an issue, and the fastest concept-to-completion time will come from going digital from the beginning, or at least after initial sketches.

How much money do you have to litigate brand name infringement?

That was a good article. So say I didn't register the name and someone else goes and registers the name I'm using, I would have no power to fight back, correct?

Contact an attorney.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/kamala-harris-office-sought-to-keep-inmates-locked-up-so-that-california-could-use-them-for-cheap-labor

"Lawyers under the oversight of then-Attorney General of California Kamala Harris argued in 2014 against the release of nonviolent criminals because they wanted to keep them for cheap labor. "

https://prospect.org/labor/red-blue-states-rely-prison-labor/

“That’s the ones you can work,” Prator said of the people who could be soon be let go under the plan. “That’s the ones that can pick up trash, the work release programs. But guess what? Those are the ones [the state is] releasing.” He added, “In addition to the bad [prisoners], they’re releasing some good ones that we use every day to wash cars, to change oil in our cars, to cook in the kitchens, to do all that where we save money—well, they’re going to let them out.”

Every sound bite or statistic can be skewed to show whatever.  This is offered for what it is.

Huh.. I might grind out a piece of a seam guide to fit the same purpose.

The question is, will this stop me from sewing zippers inside-out or upside-down. Or both inside-out and upside-down at the same time? I still mess them up from time to time...

Concept, design, and engineering / Re: swivel/rotating buckles in tan499
« on: February 03, 2020, 04:58:27 PM »
Post an intro.

Trying to prototype a MOLLE drop leg thigh rig in tan 499. I've been searching and can't find the nifty center release circular buckles in tan499 for the life of me. You know, these kind:

I'd hate to have to put a black buckle on an otherwise tan499 rig. I suppose I could use a standard side release buckle, but then it doesn’t swing with the operator's leg movements as well.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
