Vendors and sources / Good source of 1.5" webbing for belts
« on: March 16, 2019, 08:01:20 PM »
What is your source for 1.5" belt webbings that are rated for high tensile strength while also not being too stiff? Looking for something similar to what wilderness belts use. Thanks!

Tutorials and techniques / Need help sewing scuba webbing
« on: May 22, 2018, 06:30:42 PM »
I wanted to make a gun belt for myself using some scuba webbing I bought from amazon (seller is xconcealment or something). I am having trouble pulling the knot up into the material if my needle (regular size 22 needle and #69 thread) plunges into the webbing where all the weave is located. This causes large loops to form on the bottom of the stitch. Is there any tips and tricks (needle point type/size, different thread, etc) to fix this problem? My thread tension is almost at max and this would not solve the problem.

Materials science / Body-facing material for plate carrier recommendation
« on: September 04, 2017, 01:40:02 PM »
Im trying to make a plate carrier with 500d cordura and want a softer (than 500d) nylon material for the part that touches the body. I was looking at some gear I have and saw that LBT 6094 slick from 2013 has this softer material for the sides facing the body. Does anyone have any idea what fabric LBT used or have any suggestions on which fabric I should use?

Tutorials and techniques / Cordura Pouch Flap construction technique
« on: September 03, 2017, 08:56:13 PM »
Hello this might be a noob question but here it is ::). What is the standard (or the best way) of making a flap for a magazine pouch using 2 layers of cordura? Do you stitch wrong sides out, flip it right side out, then top stitch around the perimeter? Or is do you fold the raw edges, fold the material length wise in half and then just sew around the perimeter?
