Materials science / Elastic for Cummerbunds
« on: August 06, 2018, 07:51:25 PM »
Up until now we haven't had a need for wide elastics. I'm looking for opinions on what people think is the best elastic for a cummerbund application. As I understand there is the thicker polyester elastics and the thinner mil-spec elastic. Pros & Cons? Whatever the suggestion(s), they need to be available in military colours and for now, a 4" width? Lastly, where do you recommend we source these materials?

Materials science / Cordura Laminated to Foam
« on: July 19, 2018, 07:37:49 PM »
Looking for Cordura laminated to closed cell foam, ideally finished on both sides of the foam, but single side might be OK too. 1/8" foam would be preferable and something in the 400D-500D Cordura range, in a neutral colour.

Thanks!

Everything else / PALS Adapter Hardware
« on: April 17, 2018, 02:33:45 PM »
We are thinking of producing some PALS webbing hardware and I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions. We posted these on our social media last week. They are metal buckles that mount to PALS webbing (or slots), and allow various strap attachment options. These prototypes pictured are machined from 6061 T6 Aluminum and are Cerakoted black. The production versions would be anodized, like our slider buckles. They are 1/8" think and weigh only 6g. Comparatively, an ITW G-Hook weighs 10g. Our initial vision for these was as an attachment buckle for our single point Rig-Mounted Sling. We had two types made up; one with a centre slot and one with side slots.

Centre Slot

- Arguably stronger
- Mounts to only one PALS channel
- More difficult to install
- Allow for horizontal webbing attachment to either side bar

Side Slots

- Possibly weaker
- Mounts to two PALS channels, straddling the bar tack
- Easier to install
- Possibly attach horizontal webbing to centre bar

So far I think I like the centre slot better, but the slot will need to moved to the opposite side, possibly closed up slightly. I think it has a cleaner look, potentially stronger (no way for us to quantify this), and the fact that it only needs one channel of PALS is nice. The other style does have the potential to act as a "link" between two sewn webbing loops, although I can't think of a specific application for that. The two slot design also does look "flatter" when installed.

Materials science / Metal PALS Adapter
« on: March 16, 2018, 09:02:53 PM »
Looking for some simple metal hardware to allow horizontal attachment of 1" webbing to PALS channels. Think G-Hook, but secure. Something even as simply as the duraflex split loop, but metal. Does anyone know of anything like this?

Thanks!

Vendors and sources / 70E Elastic Webbing
« on: February 20, 2018, 01:25:53 PM »
I'm curious to see where people are buying their polyester elastic webbing. I need rolls of ranger green in 1" and 1.5".

AND does anyone know if there is MultiCam elastic with the same look/feel as the 70E stuff?

For reference, this is the type of elastic: https://www.geardynamics.ca/products/elastic-keepers

Thanks!

Workspace, tools, machinery, and manufacturing / Cutter for Elastic Webbing
« on: February 02, 2018, 01:42:39 PM »
I'm looking for a good cutter that can be used for both regular nylon webbing and polyester elastic webbing. I'd prefer it to heat seal the ends and be automated, but I'm open to manual cutters too. Recommendations?

Vendors and sources / Murdock Belt Webbing
« on: December 08, 2017, 03:14:07 PM »
We are looking at commissioning Murdock Webbing to make us belt webbing with the same stiffness and feel as their other deployment belt offerings. Are there any other businesses who would like to jump on this with us?

The advantage to this webbing over using 4088/27265 T13 is CONSISTENCY!!

- It is consistent with the woven Multicam, M81, Kryptek that is on the market. Same thickness, stiffness and feel.
- The width is just over 44mm, but consistent across the colours
- The colours are excellent representations of their fabric counterparts
- The yarns are matte, unlike the T13 webbing, which is very shiny
- 5000lb breaking strength
- Polyester, jacquard woven

We have samples of the actual webbing (pictured below). Contact us directly via email (geardynamics@gmail.com) if you are interested. Minimum commitment we are looking for could be as little as 500 yds, if there is lots of interest. Of course, the more rolls anyone can take the better.
