Materials science / Re: zipper tape and sliders

How small of an amount? If just a few yards then may I suggest WTF. If you need more, Lenzip will sell 109yard rolls and 100slider minimum order. They’re made in US and from my testing their coil zippers is just as good if not better than YKK.

Did you try contacting Tweave directly? They sell cut yardage at a very reasonable price.

Sure did, unfortunately they don't stock the 544P and require a 500yard minimum order. They do have 520E in coyote, but so do I and it's too little stretch for my intended use.

Seems hard to find... Any other stretch woven in Coyote Brown, need something like 60-70% stretch in at least one direction.

Asset exchange / (EU) 3/4" (19mm) MIL-W-17337 webbing, BLACK
« on: July 08, 2020, 05:32:46 AM »
We have two new 100yard rolls of 3/4" MIL-W-17337 solution dyed webbing in black that will not be used. These are from Texcel Industries. We use a our own metal buckles which this webbing doesn't play well with. Works perfectly fine in normal plastic buckles.

We're located in Sweden, if you can provide a valid EU VAT-number we can sell these tax free otherwise 25% sales tax will be added.

Price: 35€ /roll + shipping

Materials science / Re: Binding Tape width variation
« on: July 05, 2020, 10:27:39 AM »
I'll 2nd that, see what the binder maker has to say about it. We don't really use a binder so can't give any valuable opinions on that.

Regarding the webbing, we use various mil-spec webbing's in our bags and our experience is that some webbing manufacturers tolerances are definitely bigger then others, even though supposedly they should be meeting the same norm. Without mentioning specific companies, I will say that comparing the webbing and binding tape we got from our previous source to the one we're currently using it's a noticeable difference in deviations in the weave. It should also be mentioned that both manufacturers are of the large and reputable kind.

IF... the deviation is causing troubles I'd say it could be worthwhile to look around for another webbing manufacturer in the future.

If anyone else is looking for bonded nylon in Europe, Amann Strongbond is what we use. They have distributors in a few different EU countries and from our experience minimums are fairly reasonable.

Hi all!
I'm Elias and I run a small paragliding gear company called Phainoma. We're located in northern Sweden and offer mainly custom made backpacks for hike&fly and vol-biv paragliding. I'm aware this is mainly a tactical gear forum but I've found the resources here to be of great value and applicable to our industry too. This has been one of the resources I've regularly check for specific material questions, construction techniques or assets exchange.

I was finally in the position to help out with a material sourcing request posted on here so decided to join for real.

Also, thank you to everyone who supports this forum and freely share their hard earned knowledge. It has certainly been of help to me and  I hope to be able to pass it on in the future.
