The office / Re: Inventory
« on: February 07, 2021, 02:19:42 AM »
I know this topic got quite old, but it is still an issue...

We decided to fully inventorize our raw materials and started doing BOM's for everything we manufacture. The BOM also takes into account how much material is wasted. Every time material is pulled from the shelf, it will be registered manually. That makes no sense if you just make one or two pouches, but it does when you are making ten or 20. In the end, I have a perfect excel sheet that shows me what we have in stock and what it's worth. That way it even helps me calculating product price.

In the manufacturing process itself, everything is documented with kanban cards. Next step, once all the BOM's are done, will be linking the BOM's to our order system. At that point we will be looking at an ERP system, as it will then become too complex for excel to manage.

I have a few CB leftovers that might be enough for you. I would let that go cheaply.

Off Topic / Re: What are the crazy gun laws in YOUR country
« on: September 17, 2015, 12:26:03 AM »
Germany here.

We can own quite a lot over here, it is just a lot of paperwork involved. You either need to be a hunter or competitive shooter to own weapons. As a target shooter every semi automatic handgun needs a new permit, hunters can buy as many rifles as they want.

If you go to the range regularly and shoot a few competitions every year, it is not that difficult to get the guns you want. My last permit to get a 9mm pistol took less than 2 weeks to get approved.

Complete bullshit: If you are a sports shooter and your rifle looks like a "weapon of war" the barrel length needs to be greater than 16.75" and the case of the ammo it shoots needs to be at least 40mm long. if you are a hunter, these restrictions do not apply.

Usually you are limited to two handguns, but if you shoot competitions you may get more. For target shooting you usually can not buy more than three semi rifles, bolt actions are not restricted concerning the amount of guns you own. However, you need a permit to own bolt actions aswell.

"weapons of war" are banned, and that even includes some semi automatic rifles. Collectors may be issued a permit to own these, however I don't know anybody who actually owns such a weapon. If you own a banned gun, you may not shoot it.

Packs and bags / Re: First shot at an assault pack

Looks good so far! I like how your straps turned out.

Try terminating the seams of the PALS loops inside your seam allowance the next time.

I prefer a seperate bottom piece, because this makes it easier to sew symmetrically.

Correct me if iīm wrong, but i donīt see any kind of system for hanging a hydration bladder over there?

Correct. I like using a camelbak better bottle with a tube, because I consider it easier to clean. For a customer I would most likely include some kond of teather to hang a bladder from.
In this case here, I simply did not think about that issue because I don't need it.

After reading several posts from Gear Dynamics, I tried to make a small padded chest rig for my personal use.

This is the outcome:

I am not happy with the build quality yet.

Great idea with the V-shape, I'll try that on my next piece.

I'm still thinking about the straps though.

How close to the seam do you trim? I should try that later today.

Awesome concept. I worked on something similar years ago, but scrapped the idea after nobody was interested in such a product. Time to go and find the stencils.
