Hey Chuck, may I ask why did you bind the bottom edge?

Materials science / Re: 500D vs 1000D

Ok, so I'm not an expert of the topic but fore sure there are people using the 500D in combination with 1000D. Let's say a roll-top backpack with 1000D bottom part, and 500D body.
Others will write you more for sure.

We would love to see techniques to avoid binding inside GP style pouches, bags and backpacks. We also hate to work with binding tape.

Thanks everyone for joining this conversation!

We finally found the below Hungarian company, who has reverse sliders as well. So we will work together with them to get black any coyote zipper in two different sizes. They'll actually paint the coyote for us based on a sample fabric we send to them. This will be good enough for us, for now. They have accepted a low quality (50 meters of each size) for the painting, and this amount will last long for us.  We go for RT10-FM and RT20 - FM. The only concern here is that these are not the same as #5 and #8, only very similar. I would need to test the YKK sliders with the Concordia coil zipper and vice versa if they are compatible.

Vendors and sources / Re: Lining fabric in Europe

Danke Der_Stuffz, I know them, they are one of the only sources I found in Europe for our work. Reasonable price, good quality service, recommended for everyone in EUR.
Any specific advise maybe on which fabric would work best for lining? If the outer Cordura is water resistant, then I guess the inner lining shouldn't be water resistant and coated. If the coating helps on the avoid fabric fray, then let it be coated I guess.

We used to print our airsoft maps on PVC fabric in basically photo quality. The base sheet is white.
As a trial we have printed some Little Needle labels with the same technology and we'll test them in the close future. I'm curious how long they'll last without fading. I'll also do some manual stress test. :)

Vendors and sources / Lining fabric in Europe
« on: March 30, 2016, 12:52:29 PM »
Hello,

I'm looking for a source for lining fabric for our civilian bags and backpacks. I'm not really thinking about 420D nylon, as it is simply too expensive, but rather something thin but still durable made of polyester or polyamide. If you use this kind of fabric for your projects/products, or have a good idea for a European or maybe Chinese source (shipping is critical here) then please let me know. I cannot really describe the weight and weaving etc. for this fabric, as I'm not an expert of this topic. We need something to cover the raw look of the Cordura coating inside the bags’ body and pouches. Something what is having a nice touch and what will last long and will not tear or fray like hell.
We are really small, so quantity wise we are talking about only 5-10 meters per color. Colors are black, olive like, coyote like, navy, royal blue, red, choco brown, orange, leaf green and the remaining 16 million colors of the rainbow.

All comments welcome. I know a guy for sure who's comment will be that we need to decrease the variety of colors otherwise keeping every component in stock will make us crazy. Are you there Mogens Beck? :)

Thanks very much,
Viktor

+1 to SunriseTacticalGear

Sewing velcro - esepcially hook - on a home machine is never easy. Try to adjust the presser foot pressure.

Asset exchange / WTB: Good quality zipper - Europe
« on: March 24, 2016, 07:46:10 AM »
Dear Colleagues,

I'm looking for good quality (YKK etc.) coil zipper by the meter/yard, preferably in Europe, but I'm open for everything unless shipping kills to project.

Color: black, coyote/tan499 and olive/ranger (so all the 3 basic colors)
Size: #5 and (#8 or #9 or #10)
Sliders: normal and reverse
Quantity: let's say 25-50 meters / type for now, or as much you can let go or as much we can afford of course

You know the story: it is so hard or really expensive to get good zipper in our case, while we (Little Needle) are really small and still in the DIYer state. Even if we could afford hundreds of meters, it makes no sense at all to buy that much.
If you have any good offer or idea or you just want to send us air support, then please send me a PM or email or smoke signal.

Thank you,
Viktor

PM sent.
(BTW, not sure what's going on with my account, I don't see my PM in the Sent folder. I sent again the same message to your email also.)
