Grommets / Eyelets

Hey guys... Do you guys ever use the really strong grommets? I am not talking about the ones you get from the local hardware store intended for tarps; I can bend those just by pinching them with my fingers. I am looking for the ones that are really strong and don't bend at all. Any ideas? I'm looking for maybe size #2 in black, but military colors would be a bonus. I'm not sure what to even search for, because it seems like they all look super flimsy.

Alot of mil metallic hardware, alice clips, snaps, grommets, AR receivers, etc. are finished by oxidization, i.e. black oxide. if you throw that in your search terms it might help. I'm not familiar with grommets though.

edit: a cursory search. These have a MIL specification number which might tell you more what to look for.

I get my snaps from Fasnap, I like them and the black oxide is thick enough that I never scratch it deep enough to see the brass.

I use a rolled rim grommet which is pretty beefy. Black oxide finish. Fasnap would carry those. The flat grommets are much more easily bent.

At their prices, you can get more than what you could by buying the C.S. Osborne grommets off ebay.  But if you only need just one or two sizes and the setting tools, then save a few bucks by ordering grommets with the washers, thru Mike at Landco317 on eBay, status of  Berry-compliance unknown:

To set them, you can buy the hand setting dies from Scovill or save a few $ by ordering the Midget Grommet Setter from Landco317.

You can also buy the Hoover Press-N-Snap Tool which is like if a C Clamp and Vise Grips had a baby, you can quietly set 20 and 24Line Snaps as well as grommets,  Lift the Dot and other fasters, without risk of cracking them like you would by hammer:

The Tool comes with setting dies for 24Line snaps and #1 grommet.  Other dies run $30 for simple grommet up to $60+ for the Lift The Dot or the turn fastener.

I use both the Midget hand dies as well as the Hoover Tool depending on the install site or what time of day, I can't hammer or dies at 0200 because of the apartment downstairs but I can use the Press N Snap tool quietly.
