Work Clamps for Brother Tacker
« on: February 14, 2017, 03:54:20 PM »
Can anyone recommend a company to make me a custom clamp set for my KE-430D? I need a clamp for as wide a horizontal tack as this thing can do.

Atlanta or Tennessee Attachment in the states will do them.  Have you checked with the company that did your binder in Canada?

Probably be in the $250-$350 range.

My local guy quoted $350 CAD ($267 USD). Still seems like a lot for three pieces of metal.

Folks, you're overpaying.

Here's the price quote for my 40x30mm clamp set (just missing two pieces that I already have):

1 x SA3627001 feed plate blank with lozenge 21,85 EUR/pcs
1 x SA4195001 work clamp blank 17,55 EUR/pcs
1 x SA4196001 work clamp blank 17,55 EUR/pcs
2 x S59909001 work clamp  82,15 EUR/pcs
2 x S59892001 bolt  0,60 EUR/pcs

If you're ready to shop in Europe I can hook you up with the Polish Brother rep.

Bootcat, those blanks still need to be cut out properly? If you wanna PM or email me, I'd be happy to explore a European option!

In this particular case I needed blanks, seems there's no factory-made 40x30mm clamp available. You can however ask for any reference from the parts book.

Contact on my behalf Mr Mateusz Milczarek (mm@impall.pl) at the Impall company (www.impall.pl) with your parts list.

PS I'd gladly get from someone the Brother data file for a N/S 7/8"x1/8" center-start center-stop bartack like WTFIdea and MissionSpec use. I do have the PS-300 software but it would be helpful not to start from scratch. Once I learn it I should be able to produce and share  data files for common patterns that we use (notably wider bartacks for 38mm webbing and box-x types). The software looks very Win95, not intuitive at all.

I'm looking into getting a 430 as well, so I naturally had a look at the PS-300 software.
While this tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gztj7oQyd6I) doesn't use a bartack as an example, it does show that bartacks (both N/S and E/W) are available from the Pattern Select tool (1:03). There are also some more horribly made tutorials on YT, but they all seem to at least give you the basics of the program. Creating a custom sized Box-X seemed really easy from another tutorial I was watching.

So at this stage, I have blank work clams in 40x30mm size and have understood how to transfer a pattern from the sofware to the machine and assign it to a program. Why this is undocumented is beyond me.
Next step: draw up a 40x30 stitch pattern to align the physical cutout with the needle (since Brother hasn't bothered to mark out the max field size on the clamp and my supplier does it by the eyeball for each machine).
I have found some documentation on a parachute forum regarding the proper construction of a center start, center stop bartack. Once the clamp is cut I will program the stitch along with some others and make it available through this forum.
@Essal: the preset bartacks have limitations on how they can be altered, I'd rather start with a GCode type of approach (start center, stitch, move X/Y, stitch, and so on).

Yes I have a custom X-box pattern for sewing elastic to leg strap webbing in 38x30mm.
Haven't had the time nor urgent need to program other patterns.
What I can do once back from holidays is post somewhere the procedure for transfering patterns to the bartacker.

Sounds amazing BOOTCAT! Really interested to re-open this topic. What's the price you paid for PS-300? Or you choose a "free alternative" solution?
