Hello everyone, I'm Cat.

I was active on the DIY Tactical forums years ago and fell out of sewing for a few years. About a 6 weeks ago my stress level hit 99% and decided I needed to get back into some of my old hobbies, and started sewing again.

I love to solve problems and fancy myself as a maker. For me sewing provides a new, but similar set of problems to solve.

Looking around this forum I'm amazed at the skill level. The DIY makers have really stepped up their game! I look forward to contributing here!

I'm happy to share any skills I have learned so please feel free to ask.

My weekend project for the last couple of weeks has been a new messenger bag for work (which turned into a bunch of bags, if anyone is interested I'll share some construction photos).

I really like how you set up your work-space in the main image on your website. I see a dog bed in the corner. Not sure how you keep the dog hair all off the kit. My shop mascots find a way of getting fur on every bit of hook velcro I sew!

Welcome! Quite a few of us are transplants from the old DIY-Tactical days.

I would love to see your bag construction process. Although most of my clients want things other than that, bags and backpacks are still my favorite thing to make. And seeing how others do it has helped me find gaps in my methods.

I’m fortunate to have a short haired small dog, but I do vacuum my shop weekly if not more. The shop floor is the staging area for larger sized components during runs. My mindset is that it easier to keep my shop floor clean then to have to spend more time cleaning finished products, which happens quickly for chalk and thread ends.

I have two Shepherd blends. This time of year fur blows by like tumble weeds.

Not as bad as when we had a malamute and husky though. They both make good test dogs when making dog kit.

The puppy also handles quality control.
