Also, designing new stuff then seeing a big brand unveil kind of the same thing...

Yup. Being a small business is hard sometimes. Without the deep pockets for product development, one has to carefully choose the direction to proceed, and hope the choice is the right one.

Being at an 'end user', now moving into a manufacturing (minor scale) sorta thing. I have noticed over the years as 'webbing' being a variation on a theme. Albeit, with material improvements and 'end user' inputs as a personal taste, whereby, becomes an iteration. Just my interpretation.
