Cordura laminate
« on: March 06, 2018, 01:24:05 AM »
Hey guys

I have a question regarding the Cordura laminate fabric. WTF is selling the fabric on his website.
     http://www.wtfidea.com/whiskey-two-four-acronym-500d-laminate-24-5-62cm-wide-per-yard/

I was wondering how this compares to HANK or CSM fabric.

Second question, how does the fabric behave in a lasercutter. Is the laminate as HANK or CSM on a PVC base. Will it produce hydrocloric acid and toxic fumes?

Hope you guys can help me out.

Grtz

The ACRONYM that WTF is selling is laser safe and utilizes top shelf 500D or 1000D mase layers.  It feels like 500D or 1000D but has a much firmer hand.  It is very durable, has no PVC and is not rubbery.
If you don't try you can't fail.  If you don't fail you can't learn.  If you can't learn then Darwin is calling you.

I would suggest asking WTF for a small laser cut sample, since he is laser cutting it I'm sure he will have some small off cuts from customer jobs.
I have moved away from cutting hank on my laser because of the production of toxic fumes. I am now using laminated fabric from Brookwoods, and through the limited numbers of tests I have done it is very durable, and the laser seals the edges.

Thx for the info.

I'll order a piece of the fabric as soon as I have my laser installed.
I'm planning on using it ina molle retention system ans see how it works out.

WTF's laminate is excellent. We’ve done some custom product runs using their parts and the quality is top notch.
