I have a small plotter that I have used to cut nylon up to 1000d.

I've spoken with a local commercial drapery/curtains manufacturer who uses an autometrix cutting table to cut every single piece of fabric they sew/assemble. Was inquiring about them cutting material for me. While that looks like it's going nowhere, I was given a tour of their facilities and while watching them cut single plys of sheer curtain material, super thin stuff, then as I was leaving, they were cutting heavier woven wool material for a custom couch set. All I can say is: WOW, unless you NEED laser, a large automated cutting table is extremely versatile. I believe this table they had used 45mm rotary knife blades

Mine uses an adhesive/tacky carrier plate to hold the fabric, so no problem with light stuff. It only runs 12" wide though. I use rotary blade on all fabric so far, and straight blade for leather and foam.
