Braided "knobby" cord
« on: December 08, 2018, 08:45:04 AM »
Have fallen in love with using this stuff for zipper pulls and other things over the last little while, but it doesn't seem to be a commonly sold item.  I want to purchase some for use in some Christmas gifts and other projects, but the supplier we go through at work (Textile Network) has yet to answer my inquiries.  Anyone have another source?

Iím pretty sure is the same stuff. I have used MSMís for zipper pulls and similar. Awesome knotability.

Belleville Boot replacement laces:

These are not the same as the cord you were using. However, theyíre cheap and have similar knotability. I never had an issue with these laces coming undone when I was in the Air Force.

It is the same stuff, but "positive locking cord" doesn't show up from other suppliers, and I'd prefer to find a by-the-roll price because $3/yard is pretty steep compared to what we get it for by the roll.  There is an older thread where TwoWay Trauma posted about the same stuff, but no update.  http://gearmaker.org/index.php?topic=606.0  Chuck, if you happen to see this and have an update from three years ago, let me know.

Better, but still second-hand supplier.  Looking to cut out the extra middle man (or men) if I can.

The only company name that keeps turning up is something called Orange Screw

Yeah, they have it in two colors, neither of which are the ones I'm looking for.  Same stuff though.  They most likely have it made in their specialty colors by whoever makes the rest of it.

Yeah, I chat with the Spiritus crew fairly regularly.  But that's not what I'm asking.  I know who the big companies use, because I work for one.  We get it from Textile Network. That's the hiccup that I mentioned in the first post...they haven't responded to the "small brand" inquiries, so while I wait I'm looking for other avenues, if they exist.

Finally got a response from Textile Network.  500 yard rolls, so if anyone wants to split an order of some coyote or black 1/8" knobby cord, shoot me a PM.  I'll order it myself, but 500 leaves plenty to share.
