Hello all.
I just wanted to introduce myself.
Came here to learn.
I've been wanting to sew gear for a really long time.
I actually started buying materials and fabric years ago.
I recently started losing lots of weight (keto diet) and got tired of having to buy new clothes constantly.
Then the recent weirdness hit us and I found myself with several reasons to finally buy a machine. Clothes altering, mask making and finally putting all the materials to good use that I had been collecting for so long.
I figured I would start cheap and picked up a Singer Heavy Duty 4411. Cheap machine, I know. But it is getting me in the game.
I am trying to track down an old Singer machine to do some more heavy duty stuff.
Will most likely spend on a nicer machine in the next few months, as I have really been bitten by the sewing bug.
I have always been fairly mechanical minded. I work with my hands for a job everyday as a bicycle mechanic.
I started out a few weeks ago by doing some repairs to a north face hydration pack that I have owned for close to 15 years.
Replaced the old tired elastic and added a 1" webbing waist belt.
Took in a bunch of tshirts and a few jackets. Tinkered with a few gear related ideas. Radio, TQ and mag pouches etc.
My first project.

With the help and a tutorial from a member on another forum, I made some shoulder pads for my carrier.
Cheap original pads on the left.

Decided I wanted to try my hand at a 2 piece shooter belt.
It came out pretty good considering I've only been at it for a few weeks.

Need to work on my box stitches.

Anyways, I've already learned a ton just reading through the forum here over the last couple weeks. Hope to be able to contribute at some point.
