AK Chest Rig
« on: March 03, 2015, 06:04:12 PM »
Hi there,

Here is an ak chest rig, 8x ak mag + 4x frag with some pals on each side and straps + an internal pouch. Also an mbitr & gps pouch already mounted on it...
I started with the base shape of a SPOSN Lazutchik chest-rig. Maybe the mesh wasn't the best choice for the inner part since it makes some noise if I wear some body armor underneath, and it hurts rubbing against the neck, so I made 2 pads in litelok ^^
Next time I think I'll put pals in place of the grenade pouches so it's a little more modular...

Cheers

Impressive! I like the attention to details; it must have been a ton of work!

I agree; not that many soldiers (if it is for a soldier) carry that many nades anyway, and if they do; they can always opt for a modular nade pouch. If the user does not carry nades, then i donīt see what dedicated nade pouches are good for, except for some small misc stuff of pack of smokes

By the way; What is the color of the thread you used, and what is the manufacturer? It seems like a really nice match with the RG

Thanks guys :) Indeed it was much more work than I thought at the beginning ^^

The thread is OD from A&E if I remember correctly, and that's almost a perfect match to RG. It was an advice from OCMike and I don't regret!

Great rig! Love the details and quality.
I have one question :
Why there is elastic on the top of mag pouches?

Thanks :)
Elastic loops are for shotgun shells.

Looks great!  Really clean work.  Good job.

The shotgun shell loops are an interesting idea.  Do they interfere with the flaps fully opening when loaded, or make it difficult to remove the magazines?

Thanks, well I actually didn't tried it with shells, I'll do next time ^^ Since the pouch edge is lower I'd say it should work.
