No more Hypalon?
« on: February 27, 2015, 09:42:35 AM »
I was told yesterday that the 35oz coyote hypalon we use as backers is no longer made in the US. Does anyone who can confirm these rumors? Or come with a supplier that has it.
We can get something similiar in EU but the price is 3times as high and with a huge minimum-order.

Hypalon was suspended a couple of years and ago and everything floating around and available was new-old stock.  I believe that CSM makes a hypalon like product, same as but not by Dupont.  I believe CSM is Korean?

Yes I know the company. ORCA is amost 3times as expensive pr meter and the minimum order is 300meters.
It would cost around 90dollars pr yard to get it from Pennel. The price pr yard is ok. The problem is more the minimum order of 300meters, we are lucky if we can earn that much in a year to pay for the 300meter roll.

Here in the UK can get it from RIB boat makers in smaller quantities, by the 1m

For example http://www.henshaw.co.uk/categories/6-hypalon-fabrics

I made a quick note some time ago that Tosoh manufactures a Hypalon equivalent, Toso-CSM. Here's the link for Europe: http://www.tosoheurope.com/our-products/specialty-polymers/synthetic-rubber

I'm going to need some in the near future 5-10 yards, is there a U.S. source that will sell small quantities?
Thanks Scott

I can't pull it up on my phone right now, I'll check on my surface and get back to you, but from memory it was lower on the page and it had 2"x2" squares of colour with the name under it.

35oz is still made by Trelleborg. It's a stocked item in all military colors. They also have 18oz and 11oz stocked as well.

Call or email them to buy direct. It's the best toll coated fabric that's available for military applications.

I buy a lot from them and have a good relationship. It would be greatly appreciated if you mentioned me as the person that referred you (Alex Gallo).
