Austrialpin 2015 'New' Buckles
« on: April 12, 2015, 04:16:28 AM »
Has anyone seen or gotten their hands on the Fashion Cobra Buckles or the smaller sizes of the D-Ring Cobra buckles? If not, has anyone heard about a release date? Is there a price sheet floating around out there yet? Does anyone have contact info for a Rep?

Thanks Gents

I haven't gotten my hands on either.  I don't see myself using either unless there is a big demand for them.  I also don't use the ITW Nexus plastic cobra.  If I buy in bulk, I can get there regular 1 3/4 real Cobras for just about $6-7 more.  To me, the selling point for those buckles is the great third party testing they have done.

You can get a fashion buckle for $14 here  http://www.austrialpin.net/products/cobra/Retailorders.asp

Here is a brief review of the fashion buckle: http://www.carryology.com/liking/industry/first-look-austrialpin-cobra-sport-buckle/

The only thing I see myself using the new D-ring sizes for are possibly dog collars in 1 inch, and 1.5 inch scuba riggers belts.

Thanks for the reply Gents.

Austrialpin' spur chase site has filled out a lot in the last month or so. I think I'll go through directly for most orders. If I have a large order, I may go through para-gear for quantity discounts.

Much appreciated.

Has anyone seen or gotten their hands on the Fashion Cobra Buckles ........?

Yep, I've played with them. To be honest they leave a bit to be desired. On the plus side they have the wank factor of Cobras, are physically lighter weight (which when you use four or five on a pack make a difference), and are also lighter on the wallet. But on the negative side they feel flimsy and don't have that satisfying "click" when they lock in place. In addition they are a pain to undo/open as the tabs are smaller and with my fat fingers need a bit of finessing. They also aren't cross compatible (ie click a 50mm together with a 25mm) but that isn't the point with this buckle. It purely is aesthetics.

Here is a pack we did late last year with 4x Cobra Fashion:

We don't stock any of the Cobra range, but do do a fair chunk of bags with them. We always get the customer to supply and are happy to work with whatever they choose. Main reason most people chose the Fashion (for us at least) is for the aesthetics and the reduced cost. Just be aware of this when purchasing
