Landing page / squeeze page
« on: November 25, 2015, 01:55:48 AM »
Hello everyone,

I've just started a campain with the target to produce and sell a small batch of (min. 50 pieces) of my Deployment Bag in Multicam. At least on the European market the camo pattern is a USP. I haven't been able to locate too many other of these bags.

Please have a look at the squeeze page here.

It's in German because as of now I target mainly Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In case you have some hints as to how to improve, I'd be more than glad to hear them!

Thx!

I can see this bag with a set of shoulder straps so it can be used as a back pack.

That is a gorgeous bag.

I've never head of the term "squeeze page" but you might want to add a photo or two of the insides/lining (if any) and perhaps one with a ruler showing the key dimensions. The page lists the dimensions but anyone who has purchased something online without touching it, always wonders about the size of each of the pockets.

You might want to also add a photo showing some of the excellent stitching details so help convey the 'quality' of the bag.

Just a few thoughts. Keep or toss them as you wish and best of luck.

Very nice! Looks great. How long does it take you to build one?

Only thing I can think of is that you're selling yourself on the cheap if you build those in-house.

I agree with some previous comments about the price. I think it is worth more. I don't know a lot about the market you are in, but last time I was in europe it seemed that a pair of kevi jeans cost not much less than that.  One idea could be to raise the price, and include a small free item which has a very low material cost. And quick production time. Personally, I throw in rifle slings sometimes.  It adds value for the customer.

All things considered, the bag looks really sweet, and I think you did an awesome job on it.

Our Hypalon sportsbag cost around 300euro. I also think the price looks very low eventhough you will not be making the massproduction, but I hope you will still earn some money on it.

I also thought about the low  price when I saw it on Facebook. We must understand that we are artisans and artists who make deluxe products for people who want them. If we  sell stuff at low price we are just guys who stay in front a sewing machine and pressing a pedal.  I also sold stuff at low prices but I'm trying to raise them.

Your price point is at the "generic made in China" level (think Flyye/Pantac). 200 would be more like it.
You should add a line drawing with the dimensions.
Also, your pictures don't show the inside of the bag - are there pouches? separators? velcro area?
Take a look at Kickstarter pages for backpacks, there's usually good marketing at work there.

Just on my way out. Therefore please excuse brevity: no I won't sew these myself. I found some nearshored subcontractor, "near"  as in "at the the borders of Europe". I totally agree with all of you that this price would be totally nonsensical if I sewed them myself. For individual stuff I charge much more. I've been asked whether I would sew one of them in a custom pattern and my offer was more than twice the price here.

As to the pricing in general: I did a thorough research on duffle bags available in mainland Europe. They come anywhere between 19.99 and 250 . The lower end ones being cheap China made models in Nylon 100 d and straps made from folded under Nylon. The upper end ones featuring a hard case chassis on wheels.

Catering to the non-artisan market in this particular case, I found that there are a couple of Tasmanian Tiger bags which have similar feature set and come at approx. 120 . That's where I want my bag to live.

And of course I made my manufacturer do a sample. Which turned out beautifully.

Thanks to all of you for providing your invaluable input.

Squeeze page is because I squeeze email addresses out of people. It's quite common a term in other branches.

I'll definitely add close ups of the stitching, of the interior and with a ruler.

Meanwhile I've found 4 dealers who want to help me here.

Let's see where all of this ends!

I'll let you know!

Again thanks. Good to have you guys around!

Just wanted to keep you in the loop for this project:

Two batches of bags are now in production with a solid quality manufacturer. I've received pre-orders for almost the whole batch(es), almost down to the blocked stock.

Meanwhile I've got six dealers, one even outside Germany.

Bags will (hopefully) be ready to ship by the end of February/ beginning of March.

My first big adventure is closely coming to an end. The whole batch has been sold (just 2 bags are remaining here and I'm sure I'll be able to sell them as well in the next time).

And now I've been asked by blog SPARTANAT (quite popular, approx. 28.000 facebook likes) to run a special limited edition for them (of course, my logo will remain on it). And Soldier Systems Daily has already published a note on it.

I'm really really curious how many more bags this will be...
