Adaptable Triple Ammo Pouch
« on: December 31, 2015, 12:17:19 PM »
Adaptable Triple Ammo Pouch
Slightly deeper than normal to accomodate EMAGs
---------------------------
Main Pouch
The pouch is lined with velcro for various inserts/lids.
There is grommet drainage, which is covered on the outer face with a strip of webbing, to prevent mud/snow from entering the pouch, whilst allowing drainage.
---------------------------
Lid
A QASM can be fitted to the lid and there is a square loop at the bottom of the pouch, where the metal triglide on the male buckle strap can slot through.
---------------------------
Insert
The webbing insert has the outer magazine under shingle retention, whilst the inner two are more securely retained with a reverse flap, which is secured against the velcro on the front of the pouch.

Cool pouch. I've been working on a removable buckle system just like what you've got. I like the idea of the user being able to choose what they like for a closure.

Nice solution to the problem of separating and retaining 3 mags in the pouch.
You could lose the metal triglide underneath the pouch and sew a yibyab on the webbing instead.

I think I have a suggestion, but could you snap a couple pics looking down the mouth of the pouch?

Yib yab?
^This^ ??? The only stuff I found when googling it was in Russian.

You could also put a folded "T" in the end of the webbing, double fold the end of the webbing 1" then triple stitch 1/2" from the end of the fold. It goes through flat but the folds will open on the looplock.

What back PALS style are you using?

The yib yab us a strap that replaces the buckle on the marine Improved Modular Tactical Vest, allowing you to shoulder and fire your weapon more easily.

It was the Marine thing I was referring to. Highly useful. On a piece of webbing, mark from edge 1" recto, 4" verso, fold the webbing on the 1" mark, then fold to the 4" mark, then sew a line through the 3 layers about 1/2" from the folded edge (or 1,5" from the original edge).

A 'yib yab' is the name for what I use to hang hydration bladders from in backpacks, apparently. Learned something new today :)

Cheers, that sounds like a possible alternative.  I had thought about a similar idea but went with the triglide, since I was worried that the yibyab may pull through.  That shouldn't be the case though with 1" "overhangs" either side of the seam.

Really cool concept, with this you can have one "oh shit" or speed reload mag and two extra mags in one pouch.
