Source for Cobra Buckles
« on: February 19, 2015, 02:15:11 PM »
Who has the cheapest source for Cobra Buckles? Right now, my best price is $17.50 USD, for any size. I'm sure it could be lower if I purchased higher volume. Is anyone else using these who would like to jump on my next order OR has a cheaper source? Feel free to post your thoughts or you can PM or email me. Cheers.

***UPDATE***

To qualify to purchase wholesale, direct from AustriAlpin, the minimum is $5000 annually. Each order also has a minimum of 100 pieces per type and colour. Price per unit is $14.50 unless you order over 1000 then it drops a bit.

How many do you have to buy to get that $12 price?

I was told there was no minimum. But it is not costeffective just to buy one with shipping.

The guys in USA should contact the american dealer and hear what the prices are.

The price I stated is direct from AustriAlpin in Alberta. That's the best pricemi can get out of them. They also said there is no minimum but certainly with larger quantities there must be a price break. If you're talking about $12 USD per buckle from the EU source, that's a pretty big difference. What kind of quantities are you ordering for that? 10, 50, 100?

If I remember correctly, they did have a minimum.
However, if you combined it with some carabiners (apparently it could be just 1), you could basically get the same price but without any minimums. Their minimums weren't that bad anyway if you actually use them.

As for buying from the EU if your in North America, I'd guess you'd take a hard hit on shipping. Cobra buckles get stupid heavy pretty fast.

Did you have to maintain a minimum usage per year?

Not for the first couple years. But Al told me they changed the minimums and I would have to maintain a 100 buckle per order (and I think they needed at least one order per month). So they dropped me down to OEM pricing (about $2 more per buckle). But that was only through the end of last year. Now they have new minimums and point me to GSI.
